Application Processes & Forms

In order to benefit from the LRAD programme certain application forms need to be completed and submitted to the Department of Land Affairs. These application forms and an explanation of the process can be found under the "Publications".  Once in the "Publications" menu select "Land Redistribution" from the drop down menu and select "Find".

A brief description of the application forms are as follows:

Application Forms:

Two types are application forms need to be completed:

1. Individual Application Form:

As the grant is allocated on an individual basis, each applicant needs to complete and sign this form.  A certified copy of the associated individual's identification document needs to be attached to this form.

2. Expression of Interest Form:

This form is completed once per application.

Please note that the more information you can provide the easier and quicker it is to process your application.  Further, please don't forget to provide current daytime contact details.

The LRAD Calculator

The LRAD calculator can also be found under in the "Publications" menu item by selecting "Land Redistribution" from the drop down menu.

LRAD Calculator Explanation:

The primary question asked by people applying for grant funding is ‘How much will I qualify for?'

This is not an easy question to answer when considering LRAD, as the grant amount is dependant on 3 variables or forms of ‘own contribution'.  The grant amount increases on a sliding-scale based on the amount of ‘own contribution' brought to the project by the applicants.

The types of ‘own contribution' are as follows:

  1. Labour or Sweat Equity  -  Each applicant automatically contributes a once of amount of R 5 000.00 which will qualify him / her for an LRAD grant of R 20 000.00
  2. Assets  -  These need to be relevant to the proposed agricultural enterprise eg:  vehicles, stock, implements.
  3. Cash - This can be available capital or in the form of a loan.

The provided ‘LRAD calculator' should assist in determining the amount of grant and possible loan capital that will be required for the project.

Complete the yellow portions or fields of the table.  The first section relates to project costs namely:

  • Land Price
  • Possible development costs
  • Production units to be acquired
  • Production costs

The following section refers to your ‘own contribution' namely:

  • Cash value in group
  • Asset value in group
  • Number of beneficiaries in group

If a particular field is not applicable, leave it blank.

On completion of the yellow fields the table will automatically calculate the LRAD grant and possible loan amount that your project application could qualify for.
