SOCIO ECONOMIC PROFILES FOR THE CACADU DISTRICT AND LOCAL MUNICIPALITIES WITHIN THE CACADU DISTRICT
District and Local Municipalities have a responsibility to provide, where possible, socio-economic data and information to various state departments such as DPLG, Treasury, Stats SA as well as the private sector. Typical socio economic information includes:
Apart from the required provision of data and information to government departments, Local Municipalities also play a leading role in terms of the development of baseline information and indicators to monitor the strategic objectives of integrated development plans (IDPs) and local economic development (LED) programmes.
Unfortunately, available resources at Local Municipalities do not always allow for the development and / or updating of appropriate socio-economic data at a local level. As such the CDM has, as part of its capacity building and support mandate, attempted to compile an up to date broad based socio economic profile for both the Cacadu District and each Local Municipality within the Cacadu District by utilising data contained within the Global Insight database.
